Dr. Ömer Turan is a senior associate of East and West Institute . He has a Ph.D. degree from Leuven Catholic University in Belgium. He has two decades experience on International Relations. He spent extensive periods as researcher at universities such as Stanford, Harvard and Oxford. He is an expert on the Balkans and the Caucasus . He recently published a book entitled “Nationalism and Ethnicity in the Balkans in 19th and 20th Centuries”. He is a professor at the History Department of the Middle East Technical University in Ankara.
